We are officially in the thick of summer, and if you are like us that means staying busy. I love the relaxed schedule of summer, but with more traveling and running here and there, we have been eating out a bit more, and snacking on the go a lot more. Today I'm sharing one of my favorite mom hacks to make sure your little one is still fitting in all those nutritious fruits and veggies, even on the go.
I recently ordered this pouch maker from amazon (of course) and have really been loving it. When Everette first started eating solids, I made all of her baby food, but this was my first experience making our own pouches. Now that she eats everything and anything, I still love having these to swap out for a crunchy snack every now and then.
For this particular batch I just used frozen strawberries, fresh peaches and fresh pears. I washed and peeled the peaches and pears, and tossed them in the blender with the strawberries, along with a little bit of unsweetened applesauce. Then I just blended until smooth, and poured into each little tube to press into the pouches, twisted the top on, and tossed in the freezer.
These are perfect to toss in the beach or diaper bag on a hot day, when you are headed to the pool because by the time you arrive, they have thawed enough to make them like a little icee. We also love throwing them in the cooler on the boat and Everette calls them her smoothies.
If you have a hard time getting your little one to eat fruits or veggies, this is the perfect way to make them yummy. You could absolutely toss in spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, apples, bananas, and the list goes on and on. Happy snacking!
