Happy New Year

Can you believe it is already mid January? At the same time, my husband and I were just saying that we felt like Christmas was two months ago. Isn't it odd how that happens?

I truly hope you and your family had the most special holidays! I took a little unintentional hiatus from this space throughout November and December, but it feels good to be back here. I don't know if you ever feel like this, but sometimes the internet just gets a little too loud for me, especially at certain times of the year.

I love social media influencer's gift guides, and table scape's, as much as the next person, and occasionally even purchase from them, but, if I'm honest, they also tend to overwhelm me when they come in groves, and the last thing I'd ever want to do is clog up your news feed.

Over the holidays I posted something that has stuck with me. It read, "the first Christmas was pretty simple, it's OK if yours is too." Quite a few people replied in agreement, which made me think that most of us felt the same way. Now, don't get me wrong, we certainly celebrated Christmas in a wonderful way this year, but it sure felt good to take the pressure off.

Usually, I dread taking down the Christmas decor, and while the house was surely sad after wards, this year I was ready. Ready to get everything put away and deep clean.  Ready to tidy up and get organized. Ready for a salad and less cookies. Ready for more water and less wine. There's nothing magical about January, in fact, it's one of my least favorite months, even with my birthday on the 20th, but something about it feels refreshing.

I hope that's how you feel when you visit this little corner of the internet. Refreshed, and nourished, and seen, and maybe a little inspired. Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing about how we updated our dining room, a little tutorial on painting furniture, and some of my favorite cozy winter recipe's. Until then, take care and I hope to see you soon!
