Hi friend,
How are you? If we were really chatting I'd hope we would be sitting down together for a coffee date and I could really ask you this, but what a strange time to be alive. Everyone is juggling and carrying different loads right now, but one thing that is for certain, now more than ever, it's easy as a Mama to put yourself very last on the to do list, and we all know you can't pour from an empty cup. Below are my top self care tips for this time, but really anytime.
1. Fresh blooms
Whether it's a clipping from the yard, or a small bouquet you pick up for yourself on your grocery run, these always tend to make me feel better. Bonus if you have a few you can place in bud vases on nightstands and in powder rooms for extra pretties.
2. Reset the house at night
I try to do this every night anyway, but it's especially important to me right now. Each night before bed I fill up our coffee maker and set out my cup, wipe out the sink, put away any blankets or toys that may still be left out, and fluff our couch pillows. It's the easiest way to ensure that your morning gets started on the right foot.
3. Early wake ups, early to bed
I have always been a morning person vs. a night owl. I love to go to bed by 10 pm anyway, but these days are feeling especially long, and with a toddler ready to roll by 7 am, I am making sure that I am getting at least 8 hours a night.
4. Light a candle
This is the most simple trick, and yet the most useful. Anytime a candle is lit in our home, it becomes instantly cozier. I love to light one in the morning while I make my coffee, during nap time and then at night after I've wiped down the kitchen.
5. Mask and Bath
I love a good bubble bath, but I know some people much prefer a shower. Pure relaxation to me is a hot bath, followed by a face mask, and listening to a good book. Even if it's 10 minutes and just some eye patches, it will be worth it!
We are trying to get outside and walk everyday, drink plenty of water, call friends on the phone to chat, and just take it one day at a time. Here's to being together real soon, but until then, sending you lots of relaxing vibes.
