Baby James' Nursery

When we originally designed our nursery for our first baby, our daughter, I knew I wanted it to be a room that would transition well between siblings. We chose to paint the walls gray owl, cut to 50 % instead of a pink (knowing her big girl room would eventually be very pink), and went with lots of white to create a calm, serene, feel.

Fast forward three years later, and I knew I wanted to make a few small changes to make the room feel new for this baby, but overall still wanted to maintain the feel of cool, calm and classic baby boy. A couple of the small changes that we made were painting the hardware blue on the dresser, and nightstand, as well as painting the floor lamp blue.

I shared my vision with an interior design friend, and she helped create the beautiful painting above his crib. We swapped out, and added a few books, and some fresh new boy bedding and pillows, and called it a day. Once he is here we will add a few more details to his room, frame his coming home outfit, and swap out some pictures in frames.
Just like with our daughter, the hours spent in this room folding tiny baby clothes, organizing diaper drawers and dressing his crib have helped not only prepare space for him within our home, but also within my heart. Hours poured praying over his body, and his health. His entrance into the world and into our family. Dreaming of the days of rocking his sweet soul, in the same chair that I learned how to be a mommy to his big sister in.
This room holds such a special place within my heart, and our home. I'm so grateful to share it with you today. A huge thank you to my precious friend Jennifer Maskell who came over and graciously captured all of these fleeting moments for us. We were so gifted by her talents, please consider her for your next maternity, lifestyle or family photo session.

30 & the 3rd trimester

I honestly have no idea how we got here so quickly! Everyone says your second pregnancy, although often harder, will fly by and it has been so true. I feel like we should just be turning the corner on the second trimester and yet here we are, 38 weeks.

I feel like once fall arrived and the holidays hit, we were on super speed and turned around and it was January. I truly don't know where the last two months have gone, and January and February brought lots of chilly days,  but we have packed as much as we could into each one of them.

We kicked off the month with my 30th birthday and although, turning 30, pregnant in a pandemic, was not exactly what I pictured, it was still a sweet celebration at home with my little family, and I couldn't feel more ready to enter this exciting new decade.

We closed out the month with the most beautiful outdoor baby sprinkle to celebrate Baby James and I. My girlfriends truly went above and beyond, and thought of every single detail to make us feel so loved on, complete with sitting outside in 30 degree weather just to make us feel celebrated.
We kicked off the month of February with a little babymoon to Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, and it was the perfect destination! It was slightly snowing when we arrived, and we woke up the next morning to more snow flurries.

We spent the next couple days enjoying delicious food, their beautiful spa, and hiking to see some stunning waterfalls. I was grateful to go relax, and steal some time away with just my husband before we become a family of four so soon.
With our first baby surprising us, and arriving two weeks early, we've been in full nesting mode and soaking up all the special time as a family of three before baby boy arrives. I feel like we've just been sitting on go since March arrived, and there's really nothing left to do but wait for him to arrive. We can't wait to meet you sweet boy!
