March Madness
We made it to April, and I honestly can't think of a better way to describe this past month. The last time I posted on the blog was on January 16th, and it was all about the fresh start of a new year. How different things look, and feel a couple of months later.
A few weeks ago, I was walking with a dear friend and was just saying how hopeful this new, early, season of Spring felt, and how ready I was. The beginning of the warm weather, a few flowers blooming here and there.
To be honest, the beginning of this year has been a bit challenging within my own home, seemingly, like one thing has happened after another, small things and heavier things. Right after that walk, the world started changing around all of us.
Slowly one thing being cancelled after another, and everything becoming in limbo. We all have things we were looking forward to that we are sad to miss. The big things, and the little things. For our family it started with my husband returning early from a trip planned for months, with his dad, my dad and my brother.
Beloved baby showers being cancelled and hosted virtually. We were so looking forward to taking our toddler to see Daniel Tiger this month, and now I'm just so grateful we never mentioned it to her. A concert that was a Christmas gift to my husband. Preschool Easter egg hunts with friends, family vacations and the list goes on. Still grateful that all of these things are small sacrifices when compared to so many.
And while so many things have been scratched off the calendar, there is still so much to look forward to. The corona virus will not stop the Easter bunny, at least not in our house. There are going to be precious babies born this month to my close friends, and we are anxiously awaiting our first niece or nephew, and the title of Aunt Megan, Uncle Josh and Big Cousin.
I am finding the silver linings by virtual moms nights in with lifeline friends, zooming with my women's bible study post bedtime, video messages to my preschoolers, long strolls every afternoon, and appreciating my neighborhood in full bloom more than ever before.
Every night that we go to sleep, and every morning that we wake up, we are one day closer to preschool, date nights, and Sunday school. Closer to beach days, extended family, and hugging someone's neck. One day soon we will be thinking back on this season, this Spring, and just how much madness it was. Hang in there friends!
